8ttempt Screens 2018
8ttempt Screens 2018 was the inaugural film screening event of Galerie Huit’s new local arts initiative, 8ttempt. 8ttempt Screens 2018 featured works by young, local filmmakers, including 1+1=3, directed by Adele Tse; Aydiva, directed by Benjamin Tsui; and 胡不歸, directed by Chow Lok Sum.
While the topic of this year’s event was “The Social Construction of Space in Hong Kong”, the selected films discussed the boundaries, intracacies, and dynamics of different relationships that exist in Hong Kong. Love, loyalty, piety and loss – these were only some of the themes explored that evening. It was an intimate event but we were pleased to see the enthusiasm of the supporters that night. The director of 胡不歸 himself also attended the screening and answered questions from the audience.
8ttempt Screens is 8ttempt’s first launched program to promote and educate the community on the art of moving image.
Watching movies together can be a powerful shared experience among strangers that creates bonding and sparks exchange. Through carefully selecting films for screenings by our selection panel, which includes prominent and respected professionals from the art, movie and education sector, we foster a community who share enthusiasm for film appreciation and filmmaking.
